Hardik Pandya Begins Special Training for 2027 World Cup
Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is getting ready to become one of the team's most important players again. According to recent reports, Pandya has already started a special training plan aimed at the 2027 ODI World Cup.
A New Base in Bangalore
Pandya has reportedly moved to Bangalore and rented a home close to the BCCI Centre of Excellence. He trains there every evening, starting around 4 PM.
By that time, most other players have usually finished their sessions for the day. This gives Pandya three to four hours of uninterrupted practice time.
Training on Hard Surfaces to Sharpen Reflexes
One part of his training stands out: Pandya is practicing his batting using plastic balls on hard surfaces like concrete and tiles.
This method is designed to help him face short-pitch bowling better. Hard surfaces make the ball bounce faster and less predictably, which forces a batter to react quicker. Coaches believe this kind of practice can sharpen reflexes and build confidence against fast bowlers.
A Full Daily Routine
Pandya's training isn't limited to batting. His daily routine reportedly includes:
- Fitness exercises and stretching
- Bowling practice
- Batting sessions with throw-down specialists and local bowlers
Pandya has missed the team several times in the past due to injuries. This time, he's said to be focused on taking no chances with his fitness.
Why Pandya Matters So Much to Team India
Pandya's value to Team India goes beyond being just an all-rounder. When he's in the team, India gets two benefits at once:
- Extra batting depth in the lineup
- An additional fast-bowling option, on top of the usual five specialist bowlers
India has tried several other players as a pace-bowling all-rounder whenever Pandya has been unavailable. So far, no one has been able to fill that role the way he does.
Looking Ahead to 2027
The 2027 ODI World Cup is still about 14 months away, but Pandya is already focused on it. If this training pays off, he could become one of India's biggest strengths heading into the tournament — and a real answer to India's long-standing search for a genuine pace-bowling all-rounder.
