Delhi Gears Up for 80th Independence Day: Metro to Start Early at 4 AM; Commuters Battle Traffic Snarls Amid Tight Security

As the city held its "full-dress rehearsal" for the main event, several key arterial roads near Central and North Delhi were cordoned off. This led to massive traffic snarls that coincided with the morning peak-hour rush.
Commuters on the Delhi-Dehradun highway faced particularly long delays. Heavy vehicle movement was restricted starting from 10:00 PM on Wednesday until 11:00 AM on Thursday. Even after the restrictions were lifted, the resulting backlog of trucks and containers took several hours to clear, leaving office-goers frustrated.
