Tragedy Strikes Atiq Ahmed’s Family Again: Youngest Son Aban Ahmed Dies in Fatal Road Accident
The troubled saga of the family of the late gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed took another dark turn on Thursday. Aban Ahmed, the youngest of Atiq’s five sons, lost his life in a high-speed road accident on the highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district. This incident adds to the list of tragedies that have decimated the family over the last few years.
The Fatal Crash on Jhansi Highway
The accident took place at approximately 10:30 AM on Thursday. Aban Ahmed was traveling in a white Hyundai Creta along with his friends. According to official police reports, the driver lost control of the SUV, causing it to crash violently into a road divider. The impact was so severe that the front of the vehicle was completely crushed.
Jhansi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) BBGTS Murthy confirmed the incident to reporters. "We received information that an SUV had crashed into a divider after the driver lost control. Two people died in the accident, while three others sustained injuries. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the local medical college," the SSP stated. One of the deceased was identified as Aban Ahmed, while the other was his friend, Sonu.
Journey to the Prison Ends in Tragedy
Aban Ahmed was reportedly on his way to Jhansi Jail. His elder brother, Ali Ahmed, is currently lodged there. Aban was making the journey to meet his brother and provide legal or family updates. However, the trip ended in a fatal disaster before he could reach the prison gates.
The Collapse of the Atiq Ahmed Dynasty
Atiq Ahmed once wielded immense power in Uttar Pradesh, both in the world of crime and politics. However, the last few years have seen the total collapse of his family.
Umar Ahmed: The eldest son is currently in Lucknow Jail.
Ali Ahmed: The second son is in Jhansi Jail.
Asad Ahmed: The third son was killed in a high-profile police encounter in April 2023, just days before his father’s murder.
Ahzam Ahmed: The fourth son is currently out of prison.
Aban Ahmed: The youngest, who died in today’s road accident.
A History of Violence
The death of Aban Ahmed comes a little over a year after the sensational murder of his father and uncle. On April 15, 2023, Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead by three assailants posing as journalists. The shooting occurred live on national television while the brothers were being escorted by police for a medical check-up in Prayagraj.
Atiq Ahmed had a criminal record spanning decades, including over 100 cases of murder, kidnapping, and land grabbing. He was serving a life sentence at the time of his death.
Current Status and Investigation
The Jhansi police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary observations suggest that high speed played a significant role in the accident. The condition of the three survivors remains critical, and they are under constant medical supervision. For a family that once ruled the streets of Prayagraj with an iron fist, the death of its youngest member in a random highway accident marks a somber chapter in their ongoing downfall.
